I hope appreciate some knowledgeable feedback. I have never had a clutch or shifting issue with my 1985 Vette.
I was driving home on the freeway tonight and noticed my clutch pedal getting softer and softer to the point it would not put the car in neutral or shift when I pressed it to the floor. I cannot shift into any gear as it sits now. It appears to be a hydraulic issue with the cylinder but I don't know where to start exactly. Also, how would I know if it is the master cylinder or the slave? I did a little reading in my repair manual
Thanks

Had to have mine done right after buying mine last year. Being everything was an unknown, had my mechanic replace both the master and slave. Parts came from Napa and he ran into 2 problems.
One was the clutch switch either went bad or out of adjustment and he had a bear of a time bleeding the air out of the system.
The NAPA slave and master have worked fine for me since installed.
I would also recommend replacing both. They arent that expensive and since both may be OEM its about due for a change. One tip I will give is make sure the eyelet on the cylinder rod is in place before bolting the MC in.
