1989 cooling issues
I want to add a circuit to the main cooling fan coil that will allow me to have the main and auxiliary fans come on when I turn the auxiliary fan, located ahead of radiator, on by current under dash rocker switch. It seems the ECM is not giving a signal to main fan at 235 degrees as it is supposed to and I don't want to buy a new ECM. I would add a SPDT relay to take the coil lead to ground when switch is on and open the output lead from the ECM so there is no back feed to the ECM. I don't know if the fan ahead of radiator was added or was part of original equipment but it had been wired to a cheap toggle switch under the dash by some previous owner and this switch broke so I replaced with a nice rocker switch. If the ECH should work as designed and I haven't turned on rocker switch the ECM output will turn on main fan as designed. See any problems with this approach?
