Default 89 Wheel Question

This may sound stupid but the stock wheels on the 89s, and surely others, look like they were designed to suck air out from under the car at speed.

Is this a known fact that I've never heard or am I way outta there thinking so?

This is apparently true. I read last year there was a Corvette at Bonneville (forgot what year), and the owner wanted to test the theory. He re-mounted his wheels on the opposite sides, and was surprised how unstable the car got at high speed. I doubt it'll make much difference if you keep it under 100, but what's right is right!

I read the same thread on the Bonneville information. I think he had the later sawblade wheels, but the principle would be the same for these wheels.

I am not sure how much difference in high speed performance the wheels make, but I thought the wheel design was to move air for brake cooling purpose.

I was thinking the same thing but to cool brakes it seems blowing air on them would be much more effective than sucking air past them.

Either way I won't be going fast enough in it to make any difference.
