C4 Low Temp Switch
I want my engine to be able to run as cool as it can get. I just previously installed a 180* thermostat and have flushed/refilled my cooling system with 50/50 premix. I was looking at this low temp fan switch that claims it can reduce engine temp by kicking in the main fans at an earlier temp than whats stock. In this case at 195* and off at 180*. Is this legit? As in is it worth buying this switch and will it actually work? I know on the 93 Vette's the fans are controlled through the ECM/PCM. Will I be able to kick the fans at an earlier temp with a simple tune or would I have to buy this switch or have to do both?
This is the switch:

I feel the same - sitting in a drive-through line in mine, seeing it bounce up to 230 and listening to the fans finally kick in just drives me batty. BUT, if there was a real reason for it, I want to leave mine alone. Otherwise, I'll probably start (before next summer) trying to get mine to run cooler too. '94 in my case.

New C4 owners freak out a the 'new' temperatures, versus old cars or those that do not display coolant temperature. Backyard re-engineering of increasingly sophisticated systems is ludicrous, especially with a lack of understanding of all the engineering. It can and has made a fine performance machine into a nightmare.
The newer C4 ECMs will not activate the fan above 35 mph as there is no increae in airflow.
I have concerns about my engine running too cold, some of the cold mornings, which could keep it in open loop; hardly desirable.
