I love the C4's because my uncle bought a 87 when I was 10 and I always thought it was the Bees Knees. Over the years since then I've heard infinite numbers of folks knocking the C4 for any reason or another. I'll always remember one of my buddies in college constnatly telling me how slow it was when he saw the picture of it I had up on the cork-board.
Now I own two and I have gotten lots of compliments on both even though they are 23 and 27 years old respectively. In fact tonight someone called me "Mr Moneybags" because I own two. (21 year old). Had to laugh knowing that both of my cars combined total didn't cost as much as his 2013 Scion FRS. (And in light of my college buddy, last I checked both were faster than that FRS also...)
Nice part is that the compliments seem to come in randomly. Sure, some at car shows or ect, but mostly out on the street form other motorists or at gas stations. People smiling as they see it at the pump like they love it and think of it as new or a classic at this point; or remember it from years ago when they first saw it's lines in 1983.

i lolled at this bro because i get the exact same response. both of mine combined were 8k. to be fair, one leaked like a seive. i fixed those in my garage.
I have a secret love affair going with the girl at Bojangles drive-thru. She is 1/3 my age but adores my car and always makes a big deal about it at the window. You have to love honest excitement, and the fact that she is a solid 10 doesn't hurt either. The health detriment of all those biscuits means nothing in this situation!
Not as big of a slam dunk as the '63 vert but the old '96 turns heads in a different way, more exotic vs classic, and built before she was born. Yikes.
[QUOTE=Barchetta;1588742034Case in point. I was out the drive-thru and three young workers came to the window in utter admiration at the car. [/QUOTE]
Same thing happened to me; but it was 2 girls at a Dunkin'. I have noticed a lot of young people really think my C4 is cool. I think the market has bottomed and there will be a small return on investment in about 10 years. The new ones are just too much money for most young people and the C4 is a way in. Just like when I was in HS and thought the late C4 was awesome but could never afford one.
Having my hot GF with me never hurt getting looks and compliments either!
Same thing happened to me at a Dunkin' ! My Beautiful GF was with me, maybe they were admiring her...
you know it.
if you have maintained it (which lets face it, most dont) and its clean inside as well as out....people love these cars.
i dont think i will ever get a chance to buy a vette like mine for 4k (where i live) again. any that are for sale locally are all listed at 8-9k. so even if they sell for 50% of that, im covered. and i have no payments.
i told a few of my friends my plan on buying "an 80's vette" and they were kinda surprised. they had an initial response of "brutal, cant you do better than that". so i buy my black 87, bring it to a couple poker nights and a couple guys nights and they all LOVE it and were very surprised it was 4k.
1 guy (my brother) has even bought his own since seeing my 87. I think thats how it goes. 30-something's can afford these all day long. At 4k most people dont even need to get approval from the wife. And so the cycle goes. I now own the car that was on my wall as a teen. I am now looking for either a second cheap one, or i will sell my 87blk auto and get a 4+3 and will mod the breaks and put some r888's on for some local HPDE. i do like the c7, and ill buy a zr1 version of it after a i sell my current company in a few years. but only with cash and if i dont have the cash i wont buy it. i LOVE that my vette is paid for with cash and is not losing value every day that goes by.

Go figure... me too. The seed was firmly planted the day my uncle gave me a ride in his '87, when I was 10. His was a gray/black two tone coupe. The Atari dash and small block rumble got in my blood, as did the sleek design.

I don't think it's entirely starry eyed to think that they've probably about bottomed out and will hold for awhile, then slowly start to rise a bit in value.
I don't see any other Corvettes on the road here. I think the last time I saw one was at least 6 months ago. Also I have been finding some of my model cars, and most of them are C4s. Then again I'm only 6 years older then my 93.
I just moved to Ohio about 6 months ago and I have been substitute teaching here in the schools and some of the kids have seen me get in my car when I leave or they see me drive by after school when they are walking home and they always freak out and wave. Then of course the next time I have any of these kids in a class they want to ask me about my car and tell me how nice it is. The car seems to get the most attention from middle school kids but then again the high school I work at is bigger and they don't really get to see me go to my car. So I guess you could say I'm the cool sub . What else is strange to me is how I feel old around these kids and I'm "only" 29 and don't consider myself to be out of touch. But I definitely get a kick out of talking cars with the kids and I know that in most classes I will have a few who will be good for me because they like the car and so that gives me some cred haha.
I don't see many in excellent condition, and most of the cars you see around town are econoboxes or blocky looking camaros, chargers, etc that look like shoe boxes. The modern style has gone the way of looking extremely aggressive, but lacks sex appeal. The C4 is curvy and stylish compared to the angular monstrosities that are being pumped out by Detroit today.
