we gotta 92 C4 with the boze system and am noticing the CD disk keeps wanting to eject.......... so am thinking its on its way out. Ive read where you can send the unit in for repairs but am thinking it just needs replacing with something else..
Question is what is involved replacing with another unit and having the wire plugins be the same , or do you have to change out all the wiring in the car for a different brand unit? or would it be cheaper to have the player repaired?? thanx
Well, let me tell you my story, i have a 93 vert and just over a year ago i had the Factory Stereo rebuilt by Dr. Don's in Huntsville Tx. It will cost you 200.00 + shipping to have it repaired. If you want to have your Stock unit updated, that's another 200.00. With that said, for 400.00 you might want to consider a different unit as the Boze Speakers are not that great anyway. Some other members might chime in with suggestions for different units that could be installed. The CD on mine works fine until i hit a bump and then it skips. I only got the cheap 200.00 overhaul..but the cassette player now works, go figure.
I just replaced the Bose in my 94 with pioneer equipment for $225 head unit and 4 3 way speakers. It's not hard but you will have to pull the seats and center console. There's a number of write ups here. It will take some time but go slow, take pics and bag the screws. I'm pleased with the results and can now use the iPhone as a media player and blue tooth. Sound is good but you will have to tune the speakers for it to sound really good.
