Default Looking at a 91 coupe

I Sold my 84 when I left Indiana to take a job in Las Vegas. I looked at a 91 yesterday, on the surface it looks very good, great paint reasonable interior, has 94k miles and he wants $ 6500 for it. I would like some input about the things you can't see that could be costly as the move has costs as well. thanks

I like the 91 because it has the new tail and the l98 engine does not have the opti which is a big plus. However, the 91 used the old r12 in the a/c. which is very hard to get but can be converted------ $6500 is ok for a very clean car--- still a pretty spunky car-- drove my friends l98 and seems pretty close to my lt1 but I did not push it hard (because he was in the other seat).

Actually, there's plenty of R12 around. Check EBay,about $25 or so a can.

I love my '91 (I also have a '84 Z51). My '91 is a 6 speed manual with the FX3 suspension and is fun to drive. The '91 has one odd item. The engine has a one year only valve cover emblem. They're very hard to find if you need one.

Take a look at this one as it has fewer miles, looks great and has some nice aftermarket wheels. Same price range.

As a previous 91 owner I can tell you to watch out for: fuel pump, injectors, headlight gears (buttons),blocked air flow to radiator from road trash, inaccurate tach and fuel gauge, leaking valve covers, leaking intake manifold, bolster wear on driver's seat, worn steering wheel, cd player and other Bose problems. I also am suspect of any TPI system that has not had the O rings replaced.
Good luck!
