Hi Scott--There are many posts on this forum and the ZR1Net about ZR-1 windshields that you can find with the search function. In a nutshell, the ZR-1 windshields were specially made with a reflective lamination to help the ZR-1's air conditioning system, which was slightly undersized due to real estate issues under the hood as I understand it. They proved to be susceptible to delamination which produces the brown ring you mention. Many are delaminating to various degrees, with one of the worst on 1995 #448, the last ZR-1 produced, which has been in the National Corvette Museum since it was built. Some have said the 95s tend to be the worst but I have no direct knowledge of that. Mine has just a little around the edges; with #448 in the museum you can hardly seen into the interior. There were some replacements made but I don't know if any are still around. The original is out of production. If you can actually find one they tend to be $1,500-$2,000 as I recall (you need to make sure you get the right year too, as the size of the cutout was smaller after, I believe, 1991). A number of people have replaced damaged ZR-1 windshields with standard ones and are happy with them. I don't know how much the NCRS would dock you for one but they also know that the original windshields are no longer available, and one way or another one needs a clear windshield in order to drive. Maybe an NCRS member here could comment. --Bob
