Default Clearing light from dash

Hoping someone can direct me in a how to clear "service engine soon": light by using dash buttons on a 92 C4, it only comes on the freeway and shuts off when the car is turned off, then back on

Dan, no matter where it comes on you need to read the code that is set before clearing it. There is some problem with your car.
Bring it up and we can get the code and see what it says.

Hi

Always a good idea to put the year of your corvette in the post.

Usually a code after being on a steady speed for some time is an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) code, there is a temp sensor that will check the EGR is working. If not the code will be set.

I am not familiar on the 90-96 C4's but others will chime in.

Have a look at the link below, has some good information on retrieving the fault codes on the late C4's.

I had this code on my car last year and all I had to do was disconnect the EGR and clean it with some spray. After reconnecting, everything was fine. It was just some carbon build up inside the EGR pipe/tube.
Good luck.

just found where the EGR was and the hoses tubes look ok and so did the visual part of the EGR "facing forwards" need to remove the unit and see how the other side looks and hopefully it just needs a good cleaning.

Now, on the other hand someone was trying to tell me to remove the intake manifold and have it hot tanked, then if that didn't fix it replace the EGR, common sense and least expensive way would be to first try cleaning the valve itself then go from thier
