Odd Starting Issue
After leaving the hood up too long during an oil change a few months back, the underhood lamps drained the battery.
I put it on a trickle charger overnight, and the next morning, when I turned the key, all the accessory lamps, etc. lit up and I heard a "chuk" sound in the dash (nothing clicking underhood, or starter trying, etc.
I figured the battery was toast, so I had it checked. After a full charge it checks fine.
So put it back in the car, and ever since, I may have to turn the key to "on" once, or maybe 3 or 4 times, each time getting the "chuk" sound in the dash, before it cranks right up with no delay, struggle, etc.
If I turn the engine off and turn the key right back to "on", it fires right up. If it sets a few days, have to do the 1 or 3 or 5 key turn thing.
Thoughts?
Thanks, Jason
But that makes me wonder - since it will restart immediately after shutoff - maybe there is a loose connection on the starter that gets tighter from the heat of the engine. Then when the engine cools it gets loose again. I'll check there first. More annoying than anything - just dread the day it doesn't start at all.
