Have a TPMS question, I have not seen covered. I have a 92 with banded sensors on steel wheels. Just bought stock aluminum take-off wheels from a 95 with banded sensors. Do I have to swap out sensors or can I mount aluminum wheels as long as I keep placement correct?

I am not sure what you have. All '92 Corvette wheels were aluminum and the TPMS was an option on them. The TPMS sensors work with aluminum wheels.

However, there are two types of C4 TPMS sensors. One is '89-'92 and the other is '93-'96. They can not be interchanged. So it will not work if you are trying to put '95 sensors on a '92 car.

If your '92 sensors are original Corvette sensors and bands, they can be swapped over to the '95 wheels and should work.

Good luck.

Each sensor is ID'd by a GM part #. If you post the part #'s on yours the ID can be made and each location could be mentioned also.

QCVette is correct on the years of application and the fact that they can't be mixed.

Does the TPMS system function as required/mentioned in the owners manual? Does the option appear on the SPID label on the console lid? RPO would be UJ6

Thank you for your assistance. I will clarify, my 92 wheels are the painted or coated aluminum wheels, changing to 95 polished aluminium. I guess I will have to swap sensors.

Thank you! I will have 95 TPMS sensors, 92 wheels available if people have the need.

Your painted '92 wheels are 4 X 9.5 and your '95 COULD be the same or more likely 2 X 8.5 and 2 X 9.5. You need to confirm and make sure you don't mix the later wheels if it's a staggered set.

Yes, Thank You. I've already purchased a staggered set of new tires.
