I just bought this assembly off feebay, supposed to be for an 89, Well it doesn't look like mine, the motor and gear system is much different.

Any idea from what year is this one?

Well - how many wires on the lead?

I can't read the date codes on the motor so you might post all of that info also.

White **** I believe was very early '84 - '87 likely.

16500363 would make it LH early.

Likely from an '85 or possibly an '86. Is it of any NCRS value? Unlikely but maybe. Gray connector is maybe the 16500363 connector?

Thanks for the ID. I'm not sure what you mean by any NCRS value but I bought it to replace the temperamental one on my 89. I sure hate to have to return it but I can't use it.

'84-'87's have the manual actuation **** on the bottom of the motor. '88-'96's have the manual actuation **** on the top (close to the headlight lamp).

This one has the **** on the bottom. If this one was advertised as a '89, that's false advertising!! Get your shipping cost refunded, too.

You probably only need new delrin bushings in your original assembly. Easy/cheap fix.

It's like pulling teeth to get return shipping refunded, probably just have to eat it. He claims it is for an 89 but that they had different ones. Anyway he's taking it back.

As for my original one I've been fighting it since I've had the car. I've replaced the bushings, the gear, the motor w/OEM rebuilt and the linkage and pivot bushings.

The door only opens half way with the hood down, all the way with it up. You can give it some assistance and it will open, closes fine.

It's not hitting anything in the engine compartment, I installed the unit without the motor to see if it was or binding anywhere. works smooth.

I do notice the 4" long silver linkage that connects the motor arm to the headlight pivot arm will twist when opening which I believe is causing the motor to think it's open and stop. I just have to devote some real time to it, like I haven't already.

On the other end the motor at it's full TDC does not completely close the door, lacks about 1/2" from closing. This is like the silver bracket isn't long enough to fully close the unit.

It's a real hair puller and kind of hard to explain but I'm to the point where I was going to replace the whole assembly, hence the start of this thread.

Thanks again for everybody's help.

Rick

The information on the part ID's it as an '87 or earlier. I'd make sure I was getting back to at least even.

I don't know who you bought it from on eBay but if you want to shop eBay use seller "Redneck43" - if he doesn't seem to have what you believe you need contact him. He understands these cars and is "a straight up guy". I've never needed to buy but I'd NOT hesitate at all.
