I now hate squirrels

They chewed through aluminum vent pipe in several places to get in the floor system. I might add, the smell was not the least bit pleasant.

I found something to stop them on cars that sit a good bit.
Sticky traps. The kind for mice. Put a few under the hood. They usually don't catch them but I guess it scares the crap out of them and they don't come back.
I've done the dryer sheets and moth ***** and peppermint oil on cotton ***** and sticky-traps, and even resorted to "snake shot" from my 44 Mag, and several pellets from the pellet gun and mouse traps, and STILL mice have braved that and the smelly repellants to nest where they aught not, and chewed what they never should have! That's bad enough. I'd hate to see what a limb rat would do!
I suspect the smelly deterrents do repel at least some critters, but by they're smelling (whatever), they're already where they shouldn't be!
"One Bite", I get at the local FARM AND FLEET store has become my first line of defense. And, I can say with certainty that stuff will get (kill) 90% of the creepers, leaving the smelly deterrents to repel the rest. Without the One Bite, it would be a loosing battle out here. In spite of it all, mice destroyed the wiring of my 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and have invaded one other car as well. So, I guess the next thing is a good ol' tomcat.
But, as for squirrels, I would imagine that "One Bite" would be as effective as anything. "One Bite" was SPECIFICALLY recommended over some other baits, as it is lethal to mice (and rats too, I can attest), but less likely to kill a dog - or so I'm told.
This topic should be a "sticky" note, much as it comes up, especially in the fall.

My yard or at least under my hoods will look like the death star during the x wing runs
My age is showing isn't it.....
Weeellll.... It ain't no joke! Ew jes park dat hot rod in MY driveway next winter, an it won't be so gall danged funny den, I betcha! You gonna see what rodent infestation can be like out here in da sticks, boy-yo-boy!!

"I hates meeces to pieces!" One year, (my first winter here in da stix) "Ol Snappy" (a Victor mouse trap) kilt over 30 mice before finally beating itself to pieces - shattering the little wood block. Covered with blood stains and traces of peanut butter and rust, I reluctantly put it in the trash where it had sent so many of its victims that winter, placed there with the sound of "Taps" playing in my mind.
None has come close to breaking the record. However, One Bite is probably responsible for that: at trap can't catch mice that don't exist. Maybe 2 or 3 a season is all I "Snappy Jr" catches in the house now. The rodent kills went from a torrential flood to a drip after One Bite was spread around the ranch. GOOD RIDDANCE!
And, I keeps a sharp eye out for limb rats too! They can do some serious damage in a hurry! Fortunately, their numbers are relatively small (compared to what the mouse/rat situation is/was). And, if there are any around the buildings, they can't seem to resist the sunflower seed in the bird feeders. A reminder from a BB gun at the ready sends them packin tho. (Left un-fettered, they will destroy a "bird seeder" (I call 'em) in short order.
)
Just finished replacing the plug wires that either mice or squirrels had chewed up while my car was living on the PO's farm. I found a lot of nesting material, food shells and other residue in and around the TPI system, but thank God they didn't get into the injector wiring!
So far I haven't found any other wiring destroyed by the little buggers and it now lives in my garage with Bounce sheets and little containers of Irish Spring soap chips in strategic locations around it. So far, so good.
My sympathies and best of luck finding the necessary parts to get it running again.
Dont know what to add to what has already been mentioned other than daily driving as I do.
