I had a C3 a few years back and was on the forum. I sold it but eventually got the fever again and bought a 1985 with a little convincing from my 17 year old son. It was his idea to look at a Vette again and he was able to convince the wife. I was able to move my old forum data to my new name.
It was my idea to look for a C4, I'm tall, I don't really fit in a C3. We found a real clean 1985 after looking around for a while. Its amazing the vehicles out there that are in real bad shape that people wanted a lot of money for. We wanted one with a body in good shape, didn't want one that needed paint. This one was only a two owner vehicle, or so the owner said, but looked to be well taken care of. Its a 4+3 with about 101K mileage. Not sure if the paint is original but pretty much everything else is. We've had it since the end of January. I've been lurking for a while, learning more about the car and doing a few thinks like resetting of the TPI and just trying to get it running well.
Its a fun weekend car for my 17 year old and I to tinker around with and spend some time together. My 14 year old enjoys it too so I am sharing the love of Corvettes with the younger generation.
Spent quite of bit of time driving this Friday and Saturday, got a wave from a C2 a C5. No waves from a C5 and two C6's.
Colorado with a GOLD Vette..... You need a personalized plate that says NUGGET!
Very nice find. Welcome to the tribe!
That's the stuff. We are masters of understatement here, aren't we?
The car speaks for itself. It's very nice and you were smart to wait for a good one. These cars can get really spend when paint and soft trim are weak.
The steering wheel has been replaced with a 86-89 variety, as it has the fatter rim. The rest of the car looks 100% original with the radio being an obvious upgrade choice. I think the car is just super in every way.
good looking car, same as my 86, tho yours is in much better shape. Below is a site that gives the stats I copied here. Welcome to the site and back to vettes. The c-4 is a whole new experience. Father son project is a great idea and wish I could do the same. Have fun, drive safe except on the "on ramps", lol, and enjoy the twisties on those mountain roads..

39,729 made that year.
9,576 made with 4 speed trannys (less than 1 in 4)
1,411 made in that color. ( 1 in 38?)
349 made with saddle cloth seats ( non- sports seat)
That's the stuff. We are masters of understatement here, aren't we?

The knowledge on the forum is impressive. The previous owner told me he replaced the steering wheel, I had no idea it changed in 1986.
Thanks for all the comments.
I wasn't wild about the color at first bu it was the best deal we saw. it has really grown on me and I really like it now.
congrats!...great looking car....there are quite a few 85 owners on the forum who are very knowledgeble....you'll get lots of help if you need it...wish my 85 looked like that when I bought it....took a few bucks to get it right....
