I replaced mine with an inexpensive Pioneer DEH X3600UI single DIN unit (CD, Radio, iPhone, jack input) so that I could use my android phone as a sound source. That way I don't have to leave CDs in a convertible, and, if someone steals the stereo, it was only cheap!
I used a Metra 99-3051 installation kit which includes a pocket that fits under the stereo and takes my phone. I fitted the stereo without its surround trim, because the Corvette aperture is narrow. Worth measuring your proposed stereo first because they vary, and you probably don't want to have to cut your dash about.
My car already had an old non-Bose system with ordinary speakers. You can use the Bose speakers, but they have their own amplifiers built in and need a volume reduction resistor to work with a normal stereo (I can't remember exactly what it was called, or who makes it, but I've seen it mentioned on the forum). I would suggest new speakers and wiring are the better way to go, because you can fit something decent and keep it simple. Hope this helps a bit
I replaced the stereo, ran new speaker wire, and replaced all 4 speakers in my 92 last week. Not very difficult at all, biggest PITA was mounting the new speakers. I used Metra 701857 for the wire harness and the metra 99-3051 to mount the head unit and for the pocket below to fill the gap. Let me know if you have any questions and i can answer them for you!
edit - Also i had issues with finding a head unit that would fit in the stock dash spot, it is apparently common to cut or break out the plastic surround which gives you more space to fit a deeper head unit which i did not want to do. I used a head unit with no cd player and use bluetooth from my phone or the 3.5 aux cable. Im sure if you search you can find a headhunt with cd that will fit the size needed but i just checked what best buy near me had in stock at the time.
