Looking to improve sound and heat deadening in my GS, Right now I have the silver bubble looking stuff under the carpet without the oe felt. I would like to reduce as much sound intrusion as possible. Any suggestions on type, style, brand, etc would be appreciated.
I used both these 2 products I bought from Lowes.
The top roll is peel and stick. The bottom is tiny bubble wrap wrapped in foil.
I used the same great reduction in sound and heat. Make sure that you also do the doors. Well worth it, I used about 4 1/2 rolls to do the entire car when I replaced the carpet.

Which material did you use where? Did you do inside the door as well as behind the door panel?

The peel and stick goes everywhere, entire cargo area and the deep wells, behind the seats, transmission tunnel, under and in front of the seats, and the inner side of the door sill. The Reflextic will not stick so I taped over most of the peel and stick. The new carpet will hold the Reflextic in place. I have not finished the doors. I will only use peel and stick on parts of the door where it will stick and not interfere with the door operations.
Does it help reduce heat and cut down on noise, I’ll let you know soon. I just installed new seat cushions last week and have not driven the 88 on the road yet.
I used 3 rolls of peel and stick and the one roll of Reflextic. Cost was less than $100.

I used the Frost King Duct Insulation everywhere. I used it on the door side of the door panel. It is a little thick. So it was tricky to get the door panel back on. But boy, what a difference.
Newly installed 35th white seat covers and foam. These seats will never be any whiter. New seat foam is the greatest. I had some problems installing the carpet and seat frames because of too much insulation. I don't want to repeat the same problem with the door panels. Thanks.
Forgive the dirty door panels, they are next on the restore item. Am going to try to re-dye the steering wheel along with the door panels and arm rest.

Just curious if a magic eraser would do anything on them?
I used three rolls of the frost king material to line the rear cargo area with the objective being reduction of the dreaded C4 exhaust drone. This allowed for a whole lot of overlap and it still allowed me to use the factory carpet felt. I may do the same throughout the interior as others have done - hadn't thought much about that honestly. I can say that I'm pleased with the result, especially given the cost and ease of the project.

I pulled 90% of the old foam and old jute and threw it away. Put new insulation in. I installed carpet with mass backing which is nothing but a heavy polyethylene plastic coating. Need to use a heat gun on this stuff to get the carpet to lay where you want it. I spent all my winter weekends doing this.
I need to re-attach the ECM plug in above the driver side right knee and hood latch trim and I am done. Except for the doors.

I'm adding this to my to-do list. I think I'll leave the car positioned so I can do this and install a new stereo at the same time when I park it for the season. I should have time between hunting and ice fishing come December. I sure don't want to down the car between now and then.

wasn't for me. Last time I changed carpet I spent a lot of time and money insulating. At the time it felt worthwhile, but after done I heard no difference in sound level inside. Would not do it again
Gimme another week or 2. I'll take a test drive very soon. Once you rip everything out and replace it with better stuff, it takes awhile. I will know real quick.
By the way, I learned this insulation trick in the C7 forum.
