Picked up the vette from the shop today and runs much better after the optispark replaced. Now on to my own little project. I don't smoke anymore and don't plan having a beverage in it so I want to eliminate that area and replace with it usb ports and a power port. Looks to me that I could buy a piece of flat plastic then cut holes to the size I need the. I really like a smooth stock finish and was looking for ideas. Thanks for any input!
Like the idea. Hope some folks on here have some examples. You can buy abs plastic sheeting in different colors, sizes, textures and thicknesses. There's a lot on Amazon fairly inexpensive. Usb and power ports as well.

Like you I have no use for that area either, for the same reasons, I like your idea! that's made me think! I'd like to see the end result..
Buy a piece of ABS plastic (if you're really desperate a Best Buy might sell you some). Use a utility knife to cut it. You can then paint it with Plastidip and/or an exact color match interior paint. Plastidip will give it that nice rubbery texture the ABS plastic will not have.
I'm planning to make a block off plate for where my Selective Ride and power seat switches went in this same way.
I have made some instrument housings to mount on my dash (other cars) out of fiberglass. The process is a bit tedious but the results are exactly what you want. The guys who make speaker enclosures use fiberglass a lot.
well that all sounds like a good idea, but be forewarned, once you start pulling the center console apart...and it's not hard....you're gonna find a multitude of little tabs and brackets that have cracked or broken off; just be prepared to do some basic repairs while everything is apart.
