A Mustang isn't sports car, niether is an Impala SS a sports car.
Maybe a sports sedan, but even that is pushing it.

Come on everyone. The topic said "in the same price range." I'd have to say Nissan 300ZXTT. I recall a test on 300ZxTT entitled "Corvette Killer." Motor Trend, Car And Driver or Road And Track. Can't find the magazine at the moment.

Both of those are fine automobiles but they break your rule. If you are talking about the price range of a new Corvette (40-50k) there arent many options, the '03 Cobra is about as good as it gets, from there you have the M3's maybe a good used Viper. If you are talking the price range of a good clean used C4 (15-25k) then the options get better, 300ZX TT, Supra MKIV, RX7, Firehawk or Z28 SS.

There are too many cool cars out there to just own the same thing over and over. I actually doubt my next car will be a 'Vette. I don't doubt that I will eventually return to a Corvette though.
