Advice on a 92 Black Rose...
I may have recently come into an opportunity to purchase a 92 Coupe. 30k miles, Black Rose with White interior, auto. I wasn't looking but this guy has had the car sitting for years. And by sitting I mean put it away running and never even turned it over much less drove it.
So here's my questions, (owned several vettes but never a C4) Assume that it is pristine cosmetically and a pretty rare color combo. (I've never seen one) What's it worth?
I don't know how much work will have to go into it. I assume:
1)tires will have flat spots and need to be replaced
2)fuel will be bad, need the tank dropped and cleaned?
3)new plugs, wires and battery at a minimum
4)brakes will need to be checked
I don't want to waste his time or mine and wasn't really looking for a project. I figure it is worth no more than $5k as is and probably $10-12 finished up, sound about right? I'm more afraid of the hidden gotcha's that I can't see on a car that I may get lucky on but could also bleed me dry...
Any advice is apprectiated. I'll try to post pictures later.

You may be right. I have only seen pictures so far but he says (through a mutual friend) sitting for 5-7 years.
2-3 years would be no big deal, I am fairly worried about 5+ years of never being run or moved. Dried out seals and god knows how old the gas is or what it has done sitting in the system that long.
That's why I asked. It's clearly worth something fixed up but I have NO idea how much $ it will take to make that happen. I probably couldn't even drive it, I'd have to tow it away. It's a shame it was left to die...

Thats a real beauty and it all depends what he wants for it. Before I would even start it up I would go through all the systems and change all fluids. He will want top dollar for a low mile car so you would have to figure what you would have to spend to get in shape and see if it would be better to find a car in good as shape but running,

I assume the pics are before it went into storage, any idea how the interior has held up? If not stored properly the interior can deteriorate fairly quickly and the white is easily discolored by molds and moisture. It's a very nice looking car though.

Beautiful car. The fluids should be changed. The seals may be ok but that would only be determined after driving it. The car has a New York rear plate but the front plate area has a cover on it. Did you look at the car yet? Tires need to be changed. Gas tank emptied. He most likely will want a premium price. Let us know the outcome good luck

That's what I was thinking. I have not seen it in person yet. I could get the deal of the century or it could be an absolute wreck. I'll keep you all posted.

The car is here in tn. A buddy of mine at work told me about it because he knows I am into corvettes. As of today I have only seen pictures. From what I am told the guy is moving and his wife wants it out of their garage. I would love to save it from destruction but the price has to be right. We shall see

I would go look at the car and look thoroughly. The basics have been covered and you know what you need to do to get the car to a basic running condition. Feel the guy out and see where he is on price. The car should fetch close to $7500 or so as is, non running due to a dead battery and faulty fuel.
You will want to change all fluids and filters. Fuel, oil, air. You will want to have the tank inspected and cleaned if the gas has started to coagulate and varnish and you will want to have the injectors cleaned. The seals on the engine should be ok but be flexible if it develops a leak. The seals may soften back up with a few heat cycles and miles and be just fine. I think you found a good car.

IMHO... think the seats and door panels were replaced OR the carpeting was replaced.
Never saw an OEM two tone interior consisting of seats, door panels and carpeting.
The seats came from a 93.....

ask how much they want for it... 6 months ago i bought a 93 that was sitting for 2 years had to change all fluids, hubs, break, radiator, waterpump, spark plugs and wires, ect.... i did almost everything to it!.... i wouldn't pay no more than $3000.00 for it.... if he does all the above mention then ..... it is worth it to get it for a higher price .... have a good knowledgeable mechanic look at it before and also have the mechanic give you an approximate price for labor and material for the above... good luck...

The engine compartment is sporting ’93 and up composite valve covers. The black composite valve covers were not offered on ’92’s. The rims are ’93-’96 polished. ’92 OEM rims were painted, not polished. Painted rims were standard on ’91-’92's (including ZR-1).
One other indicator that makes me lean toward this being a ’93 is that I can’t make out any of the orange indicators that were on the directional ventilation controls (look closely at the passenger compartment photo). Last year for those was ’92.
If somebody went to this much trouble to make a ’92 look like a ’93, they spent A LOT of coin for cosmetics.

Edit: Just noticed the OP noted it is a ’93 and not ’92 (post #4).
