Melting Slicks
Hi
Many years ago i went though this issue, my fibrglass targa seperating at the rear corners.
I had it repaired at least 3 times, they all did not last.....
I think the only way is to completely remove the fibreglass and clean the contact areas, then use the correct bonding material.
I do not know what the best is.
After a few months i noticed a buble on each side, after one bubble popped open i noticed some $#@* put self tapping screws to hold the skin down onto the frame. That was the end of that targa roof.
I purchased a replacement roof after the last "fix" by some #@!*& ruined my targa roof.
So be careful what body shop you take that roof to be repaired.

Yup, just did this yesterday....worked like a charm. Make sure you get the epoxy well into the part where the frame meets the acrylic top. I used ice cream sticks that I filed down to almost a point to make sure I got it in there. I then made sure that there was a tight seal by putting weight on the top to weigh it down for 12 hours.

My top is starting to separate too. I noticed it first because it caused a lot of squeaking noises when driving. If you guys think that the JB weld will work, then I'll try it out as well.

JB Weld will work for a little while, but it gets too hard and will crack. I repaired my top several years ago, and it's fine. Take your top to a windshield repair shop. They have the right stuff!! You only need a little bit, so they should be able to fix your top with the leftover adhesive from a windshield replacement job. I used Betaseal U-418. It cures with a little resilience, so the top and frame can flex with the temperature extremes without cracking.
Search on Betaseal U-418 for my fix.
