Default Analog Dash

Considering replacing the digital dash in my 1991 with an analog panel (like those sold by Vette Aid). Anyone have any experience with third party units? Is it considered an upgrade or will it devalue my car? My Vette has 34.8k on it and is in otherwise pristine shape, except for the LCD speedometer, fuel gauge, etc -- which has not worked properly for some time. Thanks for any insights.

My LCD was also messed up for a while. I finally removed it from the car, took it apart and resoddered all the connections on the board. Works great now. Might give that a shot.

Seeing as you asked "Is it considered an upgrade or will it devalue my car?" I would have to say it would horribly devalue the car. I for one wouldn't buy one someone did that to unless it came with the original cluster to put back and wasn't permanently changed in any way and would still prefer to just avoid it.

You can send the cluster to http://www.batee.com/ to be repaired fairly cheaply.

Now if your just wanting an analogy dash, its your car have fun. There are several kits out there to change it over with. I personally think they are about the ugliest mod you can do to a c4 that Ive ever seen but that's just a personally opinion. Again your car so make it how you want it.

If it was a commercially available plug-and-play dash and came with the original, I'd consider it. If they hacked the wiring then all bets are off.

Don't look at anything you can do, other than keeping your car completely stock and well maintained, as a "value adder", especially with a increasingly rare low miler such as yours.

I made my own. There weren't plug and play deals when I did mine. Not sure about now.

Thanks to all for your advice. Had the LCD repaired last November and it worked well for about a month, one segments are missing again. Will try to get it repaired again and go from there.
