Default Bumper Cover Alignment

After a closer look I think I can reuse the bumper cover but it needs some serious realignment on the port bow.

The damage is confined to this area, it didn't transfer as far as I can tell, hood still seems to be in the right place. The more I look at it the more I think this is a job for the pros.

Any opinion on what course I should take? Paint can wait, I just want to get everything back it place and while I know my way around a tool box body work is not my forte. The top piece is pushed out and toward the center making the gap larger there, the cover part below the trim is also pushed in a good half inch.

I'd take some dawn soap and the brush to the dark scrapes as it looks like some of it can be scrapped off, however, that trim piece that goes around the front is probably going to need replaced. I don't know if that bent piece is fiberglass as well or just a plastic mold. If it is fiberglass, you could accidentally break the fibers by pulling it back into place. Whatever you do I'd be careful, Oh and best of luck!

Thanks for the input Nick.

I just took it by a local body shop and was quoted around $250 to remove and realign the nose piece. I'm sure I can buff out most of the tire marks but there are some serious gouges that can't.

That price is reasonable enough for me to not try to tackle the job myself, the painting can wait until I am ready to paint the whole car.

Not a problem Rick, that's a good choice and exactly what I did with my car, just actually got my car back from being painted last Friday. Here's the before picture of what happened while I was away on vacation

Decided to get off the most I could with some elbow grease and a brush and that was the outcome. I ended up taking it to a body and paint shop and they said $1450 for repair and full repaint. I said give me a bit, so I went out and sourced the parts I needed, bought the mirror and mirror surround for $45 with shipping. New door trim for $40 and a new fender with trim for $43. Went back and he said he would only charge $1050 for the repair on the door and complete repaint, I opted for the door jams too and the total came out too $1190.
Here's it after I got it back

It looks much better and you can hardly tell anything happened, plus I got the paint job the girl badly needed. I also got some free weatherstripping out of it as it seems they broke the pieces getting the old fragile pieces off overall, I'm pretty happy with the outcome and will continue to update the interior part of the car now and restore its beauty.
Happy fixing!
Nick

Wow if they did a quality paint job you got the deal of the century. Most decent paint jobs that I have seen costs $4000 to $7000. ( in NY)

Looks fantastic Nick. Yea, I was quoted $2200 yesterday for a full repaint w/no body repair. You got a deal.

Called FHP yesterday to see if they had any information for me, got the standard "We'll get back to you" phrase. It really floors me how those in the law enforcement business will so enthusiastically ruin somebody's life over a joint but could care less if somebody damages your property and hauls ***. After all, they do have the tag number, 2 witnesses and the vehicle/driver description. I guess they want to give him time to repair his damage before they investigate, if they even bother to.

It's not a perfect paint job but overall turned out pretty good, I live in Texas by the way, might be why it's so much cheaper.
