Cruisinfanatic. See those small slits in the clip. Use a very small screw driver and a hammer. Tap the screwdriver holding it slightly vertical to the slit. Like you are opening a safety can lid lock. You can back them off that way without destroying them. Once the spring tension is off you can use your finger or a bigger screwdriver and move it around on the outside of the visor clip to finish un-screwing it.

You'll be un-screwing the ring so slow you want have to worry about spring tension. I did this method 3 times just recently. Why 3, my new visors' vanity mirror lights would not light up because some ***** wired the LED's in backwards where they were assembled. So I put the old visor back on after installing and then un-installing the new visor.
