Default visor removal

Would like to get my targa adjusted properly, but as you know the visors have to come off. How to get the locking ring off. Do you have to wreck it?

If this is what you mean, I had to break them off and buy new ones from Eckler's.

Cruisinfanatic. See those small slits in the clip. Use a very small screw driver and a hammer. Tap the screwdriver holding it slightly vertical to the slit. Like you are opening a safety can lid lock. You can back them off that way without destroying them. Once the spring tension is off you can use your finger or a bigger screwdriver and move it around on the outside of the visor clip to finish un-screwing it.

Be careful when you remove the retainer ring. The spring beneath it will go flying when it is released, so make sure it is covered.

You'll be un-screwing the ring so slow you want have to worry about spring tension. I did this method 3 times just recently. Why 3, my new visors' vanity mirror lights would not light up because some ***** wired the LED's in backwards where they were assembled. So I put the old visor back on after installing and then un-installing the new visor.
