My son was removing the vale cover on the passenger side and broke off the AC switch on the back of the compressor. Any way to repair this or do I need to replace the whole hose unit?

Hi
I know on the 84-87 compressors there is a small round switch held in by a circlip, i remember when i had that type of compressor some had it and some did not. Is the part at the below link that switch? not a good picture i know.
The later type had the pressure switches on the refrigerant lines, i know they were on my 85. I have seen them online but they are rare, you may need to go to a junk yard and look for one.

The high pressure switch on "THE HOSE" for an '84 is GM # 10007057.
Still stock on some dealers shelves I'd think. Should be equivalents I'd think also. CC doesn't supply it any longer either and "seabright's" link to Eckler has the correct references.
Unless the son has ruined or damaged the fitting on the hose/tube you should be fine.

OP - where are you located?
I live in NH. Yes he broke the threaded nipple off the back of the hose assembly. Not sure if I can get out the broken thread out.

So you just have a "hole" in the tube/line?
It likely broke at the brazed/welded joint. A fix would likely require removal from car and a quality shop. Might be time to reseal the entire system since it's been open for a few days. Removing the nipple from and saving the switch I wouldn't think an issue but you need to be pretty careful what you "grab onto and grab with".

A snapshot might be interesting.
I can get the whole hose assembly for around $130 so that is the way I will properly go. But I will still need the pressure switch. All I wanted him to do was remove the valve cover. 17 year olds.... But at least he learned on a $4000 car instead of a $40,000 car. It was the one thing on this project that I didn't need to fix...

A fellow just purchased and had made some AC lines for an '84 and I asked he stop by this thread and maybe drop a "recommendation" if he was happy.
Craig here... I recently got leaks in both my hoses on my 84... one I ordered from one of our vendors..had to send it back.. I then found a guy on ebay that repairs a/c hoses for 84s only..yup kinda strange but that was the deal..good for us anyway.. His ebay handle is texaserick.. He did a great job.. my a/c works great now.. I'm with WVZR send both hoses..
Later
Edit..
After rereading and looking at what you need..rick may have a rebuilt hose if yours cant be repaired..
How about picking the switch in question from this picture? Just to make sure we're talking about the correct part:
Based on your description, I would guess it's #14.
The question/decision the OP needs to address is the HOW TO FIX/REPAIR the Schrader valve connection on the A/C line tube OR to purchase a complete line already assembled. That was the reason I was interested in and mentioned "snapshot". The switch is #14 and that hasn't been questioned, that's what the OP mentioned in his original post and later clarified that it was the nipple/Schrader that was actually busted off.
I have no doubts that the Schrader could be repaired locally if it were mine. It needs to be removed from the car for the repair.
