Default Cooling Fan troubleshooting

New 92 coupe to me. Got the FSM on CD and am trying to track down problem with fans, they don't come on. Tried A-B diagnostic, let car heat up to 227 deg, they don't come on. Checked relays- they are good. Jumpered E-A on relay plug and fans will run. Chart C-12 page 2 probe of terminals D and E, power at E but no power at D with ignition on. Need to track down ignition line problem. Anyone have the ignition diagram I can look at. FSM on D did not have wiring diagrams.

run a grounded switch to the black/green wire off the relay to the fan...then you can turn them on when you want....

Link doesn't help. I want the fans to work normally not hot wire them.

I certainly understand this. I'm struggling with a Weather Station Server right now but I'll check my "paper" FSM during the day Monday.

12 volt ignition power to both cooling fan relays comes from 5 amp Fan fuse in passenger side end of dash fuse box.

Should have 12 volts on the fuse with ignition switch in Run, Bulb test or Start

For a '92 I think the GAUGES fuse is the source and it should be maybe a 10AMP but yes to RUN, BT and START.

Yep, Gauges Fuse. And that was the problem, the contacts were dull and were not making good contact. Replaced the fuse and BAM, fans now work.

Took the car out for a short drive when I got home. I had replaced all of the fuses that I had spares of. Every one I took out had the same condition of the contact legs, dull gray.

Another issue I had was the "Service ASR" light would come on with a couple blocks of driving. A while later "Service Engine Soon" would come on.

When I took the car out today I kept waiting for the Service ASR light to come on. Drove only a few miles but the light never did come on. Neither did the Service Engine Soon light. Going to look closer in the wiring diagrams but it would appear that replacing fuses with brand new ones has cured the ASR light issue. It may have been as simple as the fuses were not making a good enough contact in the holders even though they all checked good. Will keep my eye on the panel next drive.

Have you actually seen the engine temp rise to 238? Mine never gets over 228 degrees because the main fan comes on at 228 and the auxiliary is supposed to come on at 238. I've just never seen it get that high. Even sitting in traffic.
