So I was visiting my friend this past weekend.. At some point we were driving around and I went to park. When I pulled the parking brake up it became partially disengaged from the body. I could barely get the parking brake to initiate and hold the car still.
So when I got home, I took the seat out and investigated the issue. Seems straight forward, one of the 2 bolts holding the parking brake assembly to the body had come loose. Simple fix right, wrong!
It seems there is a huge square shaped hole where the bolt should screw into.. Not sure if there should be some type of retainer there or what but the screw will definitely not screw into this hole here:
Has anyone ever had to replace their parking brake assembly and can tell me what should be in that square?
The best way I can think of would not be hard if you have a welder or a fried to do the welding. I would buy a nut, bolt, and large flat washer with the same threads as the bolt it has. Put the washer, and nut on the bolt, and weld the washer to the nut. After it has cooled down remove the bolt. If the nut is welded to securely to the washer put the bolt back so you can place the nut into the hole with the bolt sticking out, and weld the washer to the frame. At this point remove the bolt, and install the parking brake lever.
