Default 1989 headlight open timing

Hi, I replaced the headlight motor gears on the left side. The headlight opens like there's no tomorrow. But it opens just a tad later than the right side. The right always comes up first. Is there an adjustment for this? Not such a big deal...just the picture straightener in me doesn't like it.

Thanks, Terry (Went)

Is the opening not adjustable at all or is it just "good luck"?

I have the same issue. One headlamp delays slightly when the lights are turned on and also when turned off. I searched the forum and also googled it. I never did find a fix. I thought the gears may be slipping in the light that delays but it sounds normal when operating.

Check all your bolts and screws, make sure they're good and tight. Also observe the linkage as the motor runs. If the motor starts the same time as the other but the light is delayed in opening there may be slop in the linkage, new bushings would help.

There is no adjustment other than the opened and closed position for the door. Mainly just work the lights and observe what's happening. You may be able to see what's causing the delay.

Good luck

Mine are about 1 second off. Consider that the wires are longer to the right side so the electrons have to travel further.....

I'll check all the linkage, etc. Given its all good...maybe I'll resort to a PWM speed control of some sort and dial it in that way. Maybe...

Thanks, Terry
