On my 1985 Corvette coming off the pigtail that powers the drivers side horn there should be a "Transient suppression capacitor". This receives power the same time the horns do and comes out of the capacitor and goes to ground. From what I understand it has something to do with protecting the ECM.
Has anybody replaced one and where did you get it or does anybody know the values on it.
I would hate to burn up the ECM over a missing capacitor, if that's what would even happen.
If anyone has any information on this it would be great. I ran a search buy only a few threads mention it but not a lot of information on it.
Not much information out there about the capacitor value so I just bought one from Radio Shack rated for up to 50v DC and hooked it up and so far it seems OK.

The capacitor cost about $5.00.
Agree about the lack of info.... good fix....
Thanks for posting solution.
If anybody needs the factory capacitor, I had called Vette2Vette to see if they had one and they do. The only reason I didn't buy it from them was after I contacted them I thought about just trying buying a capacitor and seeing how it works but I have no way of knowing if the one I installed would be the correct values.
