They must of meant 06'

I don't feel sorry when articles say they weren't wearing their seat belt. I ride and drive off road frequently, also my state has no helmet law and I just shake my head at the people who don't wear helmets........kind of falls into the same category as a seatbelt.

Don't think it won't happen to you.

Not a 96...but a C5.

Always a sad comment when a fellow Corvette driver looses his/her life in this manner. It is always "news" when a Corvette is involved.....never see a story about a Ford Escort involved in a deadly crash.

Definitely a C5.

As AD military we are required to wear seat belts and helmets. I agree with ovrebo1, I don't understand people that don't use the safety devices that are readily available and cause little no no disruption in comfort or convenience.

Why would you not use safety equipment?

This is darwinism......

Sorry to see a fellow Corvette brother not only lose his car but lose his life.

But I do agree he should have been wearing his seat belt. If he had, he might be working on his insurance claim right now and getting ready to shop for his next Vette...

Your chances of being killed go up 300% if you're ejected from your vehicle.

If you live your life riding around in a convertible without a seatbelt... or riding a motorcycle without a helmet... or smoking cigarettes for that matter. You don't respect your gift of life. See Ya!

what caught my eye was the amount of dirt on the road. I can see how loosing control on a curve with all that dirt could happen. Just goes to show you never know whats around the corner.
RIP

That's a sad story.

I don't think there's a man on earth who wouldn't wear a seatbelt if he only knew how hard you hit, even at slower speeds such as 15mph. I wish I didn't know....

Its also worth mentioning that a seatbelt will generally keep you in front of the steering wheel .... where you might have a chance to steer out of trouble.

You're not sucking poison from your tailpipe nimwit! You smoke cigarettes...you're killing yourself. Same as driving around without a seatbelt in a car without a roof.

Don't need a soapbox... I got a brain.

A bit off topic perhaps but it's interesting to also consider the case of the 505hp 2006 Z06 which set a new record for the number of brand new cars totaled on the first drive home from the dealership. Corvettes have more power now than many folks can manage. First comment I heard from a co-worker who had just bought one was "this thing will get angry in a hurry."

Does not look like a farm land area = no tractors dragging clay on to the roads from the fields which happens around here.

Left 1/4 is hurt bad including the LR wheel with a ton of negative camber.

SWAG: He lost the rear to the right side which spit him across the highway to the left, hit something hard with the the left rear & launched the car.

Sad that the man died. If there is an upside to this tragic event no one else was injured or killed.

As a cyclist I see this far too often. Folks making their kids wear a helmet riding a bike on a mountain trail, but mom and dad aren't wearing one. I try to explain to them, there's no such thing as a true mountain biker who hasn't crashed, but they think it won't happen to them because "they're careful".
An accident can happen in a car, on a bike, even walking. The difference is the speed you're traveling and the force of the impact when you're stopped by an object.

I show this picture of an accident I had to my kid when he asks why we have to wear helmets. I tell him you and I wouldn't be here today if we didn't wear helmets.

I don't feel sad or sorry for this person. Some people are going to interpret this to mean I think he deserved it. I am not God, so I have no idea if he deserved it or not. At least he lived a long life. RIP

What I do know is this:
He died doing something he probably enjoyed very much.
People can't be saved from themselves.
When it's our time to go, it's our time to go.

Every mile, every second, every breath in this life is to be enjoyed.
That's why I don't smoke <-- see what I did there
