Default C4 AC problem

Hi I'm new to this forum and new to Corvettes in general so I'm hoping I am posting in the right spot!!!! I just recently bought my first Vette a 1985 C4 Corvette with the 4+3 Manual trans everything is stock on the car and driving it home it rode like a dream. My only problem was with the AC the hot/cold slider is stuck all the way in the cold position and won't move at all and the air seems to be blowing quite weak. I live in Johnstown, PA and drove the car back from Connecticut and on the way home the windshield began to fog up and when I turned the defogger on it only cleared up a small area at the bottom of the windshield. I was curious what it could need to get it back in working order again and how hard it would be to do myself.
Thanks in advance!
Zach

That HOT - COLD slider has a cable connected to the temperature blend door that determines the temperature of the air coming out of the ducts. You need to remove the kick panel on the passenger side to see what is happening. Held on by a few 7mm screws. My recollection is that you also need to remove the ECM, which means unplugging the connectors and undoing 2 10mm bolts.

This is exactly how to fix the problem. Very easy fix. You can get a new plastic clip for the blend door rod at Pep Boys or any parts store. They are sold under the "Help" brand in the fastener department.

If the fan still operates in the highest position, that's the most push you'll get from it. They are not the most powerful fans for sure. Once you fix the blend door problem, you should see quite a bit of difference in colder air coming from the a/c side and the same difference from the heat/defrost side.
