Not sure if it might have changed through the years, but the owner's manual for my 1988 Base Model says Dexron II as shown below. I personally use Dexron III though.
Dexron ® II

On a C4 95 stock base lt1 is dex III or IV the only trans fluid recommended, shop manual doesn't say.
III was introduced in '93 I believe and was used thru maybe '04 or so. There was never a IV spec but there is a VI spec and I suspect that's what you meant.
The compatibility of VI to III is often debated. I'll leave that alone. I've a DexIII vehicle and I use an Allison spec'd product that is DEXIII spec'd. Castrol Allison TranSynd
Advance Auto has CARQUEST Oil & Fluids Dexron III/Mercon (ATF) Automatic Transmission Fluid (1 Quart) for $4.99/qt. I haven't used this though as I still have a stash of Dexron III.

Ive been using Mobile trans fluid in my 93 auto and red line for my power steering. Probably more important than the brand name is that you are changing your fluids all of them when needed.
A good quality ATF that meets the DexIII/Mercon spec will be fine for GM auto trans vehicles. Most ATF synthetic fluids will also meet the Dex VI spec too.
