Default pke

my remote also does not work but the security light blinks on the dash and when locked I left a window open and opened the door by reaching inside, this tripped the alarm and then inserted key in lock to reset. so my alarm works but my remote fob does not,, try doing that for a test to see if you have security.

How are you useing the remote are you sure you know how? When you get out of the car go in the house and get a beer leave your keys in the house and go out and try to open your door.

To the OP, are you fully aware of how the system is supposed to operate?
Meaning, the C4 PKE system is unlike any modern FOB you might be used to using.

Do you have an owners manual, so you can read and fully understand how this unique system works?

I know how its supposed to work but it does not lock or unlock when I walk away or towards it. The lock/unlock button does not do anything either but the hatch works

Perhaps the system is turned off?

Stand next to the drivers door, and hold the "door" button on the FOB in for approx. 10 seconds.
If you hear the locks cycle, the system should now be on.
If it was already on, it will now be off.

There is no lock/unlock button. The system is turned off. Turn it on by standing outside the car (door closed) and holding down the "door" button until you hear a clack/clack sound. Should be fine then.

Never mind, do what Rolla said. He must have posted while I was typing.

The alarm and remote lock/unlock are two separate systems. First, read about how the system should work. It does not work like most people think. Then if it really isn't working, try reprogramming the fob. Description of how it should work, how to turn on/off and how to program a fob are in the owners manual.

Default Keyless remote programing
The 1995 I bought didn't have the remote Dealer didn't one from the owner. If I boy a new remote can i program it my self.
First try resyncronizing your transmitter.

I don't have the owners manual:
But found this:

To match transmitters to your vehicle:
1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver Information
Center (DIC) by pressing the RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times
until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold
the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed,
push the RESET button once. The message HOLD
LK + UNLK 1ST FOB in the DIC will be displayed.
5. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the
first transmitter simultaneously for five seconds.
6. When a transmitter is learned (matched), the DIC
will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you
to learn the second transmitter.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for the third transmitter.
8. Remove the key from the ignition.
The programming mode will shut off if any of following
has occurred:
You don’t program any transmitters for two minutes.
You take the key out of the ignition.
You have programmed three transmitters.

Thanks !

I have a '95 and have programmed a new FOB for may car. As far as I know, that is not the procedure to program a FOB. Kind of close, but not correct.

You will never see this message displayed on the C4 DIC
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed

From the 1996 owners manual (which would be the same for all 1994-1996)

Matching Transmitter(s) To Your Vehicle

Each vehicle can have only three transmitters matched to it.
To match transmitters to your vehicle:

1. Move all transmitters out of range.
2. Turn the ignition key on.
3. Push TRIP ODO on the Driver Information Center twice.
4. Within five seconds, press and hold FUEL INFO until the PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light comes on.
5. Turn the ignition off,but leave the key in the ignition.
The PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light should begin to flash to show the system is in programming mode.
6. Bring one transmitter into range. The light will stop flashing and stay on to show that the code is stored.
7. Move the transmitter out of range. The light should start flashing again.
8. Repeat Steps 6 and 7 with each additional transmitter.

The programming mode will shut off if
• You don’t program any transmitters for two minutes.
• You take the key out of the ignition or turn the ignition on.
• You have programmed three transmitters.

Thanks, that's what it was. I had no idea you could turn it off neither did the previous owner lol

It is listed right in the owners manual.
That is why I asked if you had one?

Turning theSystem Off
1. Take the ignition key out of the ignition.
2. Press DOOR on thet ransmitter until the door locks cycle (about two seconds).
To turn the system back on, just repeat the steps.

To check that the system is off, turn on the ignition. The PASSIVE KEYLESS ENTRY light on the Driver Information Center should not come on.
If the light does come on for a second or two, then the PKE system is still on.

You can also check whether the system is on or off by closing the door and moving away from the vehicle with the keys and transmitter.
If the doors lock, the system is on.

If you are working around your vehicle and keeping your keys with you, you might want to turn the PKE system off.
If you don’t, the transmitter will keep locking and unlocking your doors.

Hello !

Thanks for the post, and for the wiring, LittleBlueCoupe ! Precious help for me !

Have you connected the exterior lights for lock/unlock ?
I've a module from another China mafufacturer, but I presume I can't directly connect the wire of the module to the lights... ? I presume it's a pilot wire ? Do I have to add relay to protect the module ?

I've a 1986, i don't have wiring diagram. Is anybody know which color is for each light ? I think I'll fing them around steering column, for easy way ?

Thanks
