Has anyone ever had their dash pad re-covered by an upholstery shop? Mine has a awful crack going through it and I was thinking about taking it to my local upholstery shop to see if maybe they could do a nice leather covering or something. Thanks

I used vinyl spray dye on an 87 dash pad so I guess an upholstery shop would work too.
I made the mistake of changing the color to tan which reflected too much sunlight so make sure they do use something with a dull finish.
They are very easy to remove, just two screws in the defrost vents and two more above the center A/C outlets. It does take a pretty good yank to free up the clips in the front corners by the speakers though. I think some vendors sell complete pads for a few hundred bucks.
