I've recently been told I need to replace my valve cover & intake manifold gaskets. Someone told me to replace the injectors while the manifold is off. I spoke with a mechanic who is familiar with corvettes who said he rather have the existing injectors cleaned and re-calibrated. Which way should I go, clean and re-calibrate or replace with new aftermarket injectors ? Thanks a lot..........Dan
Always supply pertinent information when asking questions. In your case you asked general engine questions. There are at least 5 different engines - 1984 crossfire, 1985 - 1991 L98, 1992 - 1996 LT1, 1990 - 1995 ZR 1 and 1996 LT4.
If they are older injectors they are not compliant with the newer fuel additives and the seals will leak. If the costs to have them cleaned and checked or a few are bad is half or more than a new set, get a new set and not have worries later.
The 'Vette is a 1987 tuned port with what I believe to be original 50K injectors. Should I have them cleaned/re-calibrated at 1/2 the cost or replace ? What are the best (cost is important) aftermarket injectors ? Thanks.............Danny
