Default Hood Wheel Tubs?

To keep or Not to keep? That is the question. I had removed one side (to clean and paint) and noticed my engine temp is a bit cooler (modified engine) so I was just thinking of removing the other one and cleaning and painting areas where they were. I NEVER drive in the rain so I thought I could get away without them.
what do you guys think?

I was concerned about that but after about 50 miles or so it still looks pretty clean. I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried it out for an extended period of time.
Im just finishing up my entire under hood "makeover" LOL. I should have pics up soon, I'm getting new engine dialed in. and putting final touches on engine bay.
Thanks all input is appreciated

Ran street rods without fenders or hoods. 57 Chevy with a glass nose & fender well dump headers.

Just a PITA to clean if I got caught in the wet other than that no issues.

You will have to clean in there once and a while but it's not a bad idea, may consider doing it myself, anything to keep it cooler in there.

On my track car I gutted the whole underside of the hood years ago. Without the wheel well covers there are some dots of missing paint above the wheels but no damage. The tires are race slicks and very sticky they do throw some small rocks in the corners of the engine bay. With normal tires I could see not much dirt, it would depend on road conditions (long gravel driveway would be bad I think). I can take a picture if you want.

I would not do it. You could easily pick up a rock or other road debris and damage the hood or an engine component.

Just do this to your tubs.

Just make a pattern of your choice then epoxy a screen of your choice. Had this for about 7years, no water enters due to high pressure area withing engine compartment. Lets heat out.

Cheers

Thumbs way up on that mod. That's the best homegrown mod I have seen in some time.

I was thinking along those lines myself, but it looks like you already figured it out for everybody. I think THAT should get the "Mod of the year" award!
