Thank You
Well, I'm about to head off to college so I'll be putting a halt to working on my car until Thanksgiving or Christmas break, although I may pop back up if my dad feels like troubleshooting some stuff while I'm gone.
I went into this having no idea how to work on cars, and you guys basically taught me how. In the past year, I've replaced -- among many other things -- burnt wiring, the rod and main bearings, and finally the entire engine. I couldn't have done it without all of your help. Over the last year, you guys have given me nearly 1000 posts of advice and assistance: some of those quite lengthy, and nearly all of them helpful and informative.
I really appreciate all of your guys' help, and there are several that stood out.
In chronological order:
Cudamax gave me TONS of help through nearly all 12 pages of my bearing replacement thread
Again, thank you all for your help. I have learned so much from you and hope to know as much as you do someday.
Sincerely,
C4projectcar

Cuda,
Thanks for all the help and for entertaining my constant questions of "why?" to help me learn. I know I would have screwed up something without your guidance.
Jake Corvette helped me with my bearings, but more importantly to me sent me a quite positive and encouraging PM early on in my project. Thanks for all the help and for entertaining my constant questions of "why?" to help me learn. I know I would have screwed up something without your guidance.
Jake,
Thank you, it meant a lot to me that you took the time to write out such a kind message. At the time I had little idea what I was doing (still do compared to you guys
) and was encountering a lot of problems: both pre-existing and things that I did wrong. It was very reassuring to have someone tell me that overall I was not doing badly for someone new to car work.
John Marker has given me advice across many of my threads, and also invited me to an autocross event where I was able to ride with him. He and his friend Lynda both generously offered to let me drive their cars since my engine was on its last legs, and I drove Lynda's at the next event I attended. Thanks for inviting me to autocross. Also, thank you for the offer to let me drive your car in the autocross, and thank you to Lynda for letting me drive hers. I couldn't believe you'd let a near-stranger behind the wheel of your Corvettes, especially to race them. In case you couldn't tell from the permanent grin, I had a blast.
Churchkey has not only given me a lot of useful advice across many of my threads, but he also modified my exhaust manifolds for me to fix a spark plug clearance issue. It was a lot of work, (he even had to make a custom jig) but he got them back to me very quickly and they work great. Thanks for inviting me to autocross. Churchkey,
Thank you for spending your personal time helping me get my car running. I'm not sure how long it took exactly but I know it was significant. Without your help and promptness I probably wouldn't have been able to drive my car before college.
Lastly, MrWillys supplied me with a base tune which he has been tweaking for me. It should have been done by now, but some mistakes I made and some issues with my engine prolonged it. MrWillys,
Thanks for helping me get my new engine running well. I appreciate you sticking with it, even though I'm sure you thought you would have been done several bins ago. I'm also appreciative of how promptly you have sent new tunes to me after receiving my datalogs.

Your a good young man with your feet firmly planted on the ground. More important is the support from your parents. You took on a project with the help of your Dad that has been a learning experience for you both. You have gone into areas in such detail I think I would have just thrown my hands in the air a few times and walked away. Your current engine project is just that with all the quirks.
Lynda and I enjoyed your company and your Dad's at autocross. We enjoy sharing something we enjoy with others. The expressions on your face and your Dad's the first time you rode with us was great. We knew you were hooked when you said you would be back the next day. I just wish you Dad had been brave enough to drive one of our cars at least once. The sound of your voice as you drove Lynda's car for the first time was great and all captured on video.
I know that you will do well at college. To bad you didn't finish up the car so your Dad could drive it while your away!
