C4 shift boot replacement
Thanks for all the help with my previous posts. I have owned this 1996 C4 for three years and each project is fun and the forum great help. I have searched the C4 general discussion regarding replacing the center console and leather shift boot. You need to remove the shift top to replace. You need to remove a C-ring or spring ring to pull it off. There are statements that a tool may be helpful but do not give tool details. Any suggestions appreciated. I drive this car daily to work so I want to make sure I can put it back together. Thanks RW

That video is for a manual transmission. My automatic requires a tool to remove a snap ring before removing the shift knop. Other posts have indicated they may be difficult to remove. Thanks for the response. RW
