I never thought I wanted one either - so I always bypassed them when I was looking for a C4. However, one is recently for sale not too far from where I live - sitting out on the owners lawn with a FS sign on it. I pass it every day twice a day going back and forth to work. I've seen it in all kinds of light - sunny/overcast/morning/afternoon - and I think it looks more black than purple, myself. My wife was with me when we went by it and asked if I'd seen the black C4 for sale, and I told her its purple. She did not believe me so we drove by again and she agreed after a closer look. I have to say - the color is growing on me. If I didn't already have my red one, I'd probably take a look at the one near me.

It seems to be one of those colors that opinions are either really good or really bad. I like it and my wife does not.
When I look at it I do not see it as purple. It usually looks nearly black to me but with a hint of red/purple in it. I think it is a color that grows on you. I didn't used to like it, but the more of them I see I like it a lot.

Black Rose
I currently own a 1994 Black Rose ZR-1 and love the color. I understand that it may not be for everybody. It is purple, but seems to change color depending upon the amount of sun. People often ask if it is an original color and are surprised when told that it is. Not all Corvettes are red!!

I have a 92 black rose. I like it because it is somewhat rare (as in not popular). It looks black at night and a deep purple in the sunlight. It is nowhere near a Barney purple. Thinking of adding silver stripes that would really set it off. Love the name of the color too.

I have a 92 Black Rose. I agree with others, it depends on the light it is in. I receive a lot of comments about the color. One of the reasons I decided on this C4, was the color. Here is a picture in the sun from a trip to The Tail Of The Dragon.

I agree; my aunt bought a black rose 94 back in 96 iand at the time I was 28. I drove it and and that thought never left my mind. I was sold on C4's after that. Even though it was automatic, it seemed to hit 80 MPH faster than anything else I had ever driven at that time. The LT1 was surely amazing when it was introduced and the black rose made the car beautiful.
