Astonishing! Wow...you don't see photos like that every day!

Thanks for posting it. I passed it on to my brother, an astronomer.

Got the scope ready, got the camera ready, finally one I don't have to get up at 0200 to watch. They're predicting cloudy skies here for the lunar eclipse but if there's a chance of getting some good shots I'm setting up anyway.

Prediction for Pensacola tonight: Cloudy with 80% chance of thundernasties, bunch of crap rolling in off the Gulf so doesn't look like I'll be getting any pics tonight.

Never asked you when we met a few weeks ago about your "handle" Did you get your wife a C5 yet? Maybe she can start a "go fund me" account!

No C5 for her yet, got a few other things higher on the priority list, but someday I'll find her a nice one.

The handle comes from 2 of my hobbies, shooting/gun collecting and astronomy/astrophotography, pretty clever eh?

LMK when you're coming back in town, we'll do lunch again, only at a better place this time.

More than half these events get clouded out, meteor showers, eclipses and scheduled stargazes.

In 2017 there is going to be a total solar eclipse, comes ashore at Charleston and heads WNW. I would bet wherever I choose to be along the path it will be clouded over, even with long range forecast.

Saturday night you could see the moon fine with just a bit of cloud haze. Sunday night you couldn't even find the moon the clouds were so dense

It was raining here in western Pennsylvania Sunday evening.

In the 1980's, I worked at Allegheny Observatory in north Pittsburgh. Out of 365 days, we could only work about 60 of them.

Had some light clouds a few times but it was mostly clear here. It was pretty cool to watch.
