I have an 1989 coupe and am installing new leather seats and foam.
I got the repair kit today with the trapeze straps. How in the devil can I stretch them far enough to hook them. Is there trick or special tool needed.
I used a loop of heavy wire clamped in my vise grips. Hook the strap in the wire loop to give you a good grip on the strap. Yes, it's very tight! Antfarmer must be some kind of Texas muscle man (or he's never tried it)!!

I did do some horseshoeing but only took mine off my 94 and put them back sounds like they relaxed a bit in 20 years they were snug.

I tried the vise grip as as well with no luck, even had a strong younger guy try it with no luck. Ended up adding an "S" hook about 1 1 /2" long and finally hooked it. Maybe not as stiff as it should be, but better then before.
