Default 90 C4 Convertible, Honolulu

Hello, I am the second owner of a 90 Convertible C4.
It was bought at JN Chevy in downtown Honolulu with 11 miles, by a guy in the military who just made E9. He drove it as his daily driver for over 20 years till it had engine issues and sat in the driveway.
She is a long way from perfect and once I have it running and back to a safe drivable position. I plan on making it my daily driver.
I probably will be researching and asking a lot of questions to the community. I'm just getting into the whole forum thing so I'll be slow on acronyms. Lol.
I ripped the L98, out replacing it with a LT1, due to availability. It still not running correctly, it does start and rus terrible till she gets hot and dies. Yet I'll be posting that elsewhere on this site. Thanks to all and happy to join the vet community

Welcome to the Forum Karp
Do you know that Competition Yellow is a rare color for 1990. Only 278 were sold and even fewer were convertibles. Get that bad boy back on the road. And no smog rules in Hawaii

Thanks that brightens my morning even though she's not running. You say its rare wow! If only 278 were competition yellow does anyone know how many were convertible with the hard top? I can't wait to cruise it back and forth. Thanks again to all.

There were technical issues with the color and GM ended production of the yellow color in early May 1990. Since convertibles for 1990 were approximately one out of every three cars, I'm sure there were less than 100 yellow 'verts. And with the early stoppage of yellow, maybe only 50 to 60 convertibles were yellow.
I got this info from the Corvette Black Book

Welcome from a newbie in KS who wishes she was in Honolulu. Actually, a move to Honolulu was postponed to get my new C7. Was it worth it, yes, but I'll be in Honolulu eventually. Aloha!!

Thanks everyone, stupid question. For upgrades and projects that I'm doing for the car. Should I continue posting here or create a new topic for every project. I didn't find a clear answer and do not want to get hate mail for posting the wrong way. FYI my vette on the road with a donor engine from a 95 camaro. The valves ping under pressure, so rebuilding the original, especially since it seems to be rare to have a original comp yellow hard top for the convertible.

Thanks to all, for any advice. I need to get better take figuring out how to upload photos. Yet. I've rebuilt the l98, (still need to

adjust rockers, but 1st build ever). Put a new soft top, new tires, new hoses (found 10-89 date codes on the originals), and new used exhaust off a wrecked 89. Hit it with sime high heat paint first just because I had extra. Next step is I need a CDM, adjust the rockers, redo trim and paint maybe carpet. I'm making this my daily driver so any advice is welcome

You have had a very busy winter. Not only is it a gorgeous and rare Corvette, but it seems to have landed in just the right hands.

I've never seen anyone get flamed for posting restore pix here. If you keep it all together in one post it makes for a good read, IMO.

Congratulations and press on.

I bought a used motor to put in it, where I could rebuild the original l98. I was told it was a LT1, But I don't think it was. It was a 350 with steel heads, had more power than the l98. (Only knew that after the l98 was put back in), and did not have the optispark.I learned how to rebuild the original (six months) and then swapped them back. Currently the car has the original L98 with 131,000 miless that was rebuilt.

If I recall correctly, the yellow that Bowling Green used in 1990 would appear to change color in different light and shadow. Sharp color!.
I would love to visit the islands again. I met a few Corvette owners there in 2004 by wearing my Corvette T shirts. I learned that they like to drag race.
Here is a pic of former Forum member's "Hawaiian Punch" from the big island. I think it is a 1993:

Aloha to all, I my latest adventures have led me to start disassembling the piece of Vette for a possible paint job. I put new windshield wipers on it throwing the old ones out (I didn't know) which when I used my new $20 each Trico mama jammas, the driver side caught the hood slamming down into the window placing a nice 8" crack right in the middle. Oh I was a little mad. Its been crazy to find a wiper that fits under the hood. I never really have to use them so I never noticed. I finally found the lowest profile blade I could yet still believe I need to adjust the hood or something.

I'm still on the hunt for a reasonable CDM or possibly the bypass wiring harness to add a aftermarket. (Its difficult to decide which way to go) I welcome your advice on this.

and I found something weird that I have not found anywhere else on the forums so far? upon taking the rear cover off the rear convertible deck to prep for paint (still years away lol) I found scrolled in the factory paint "42666 1-25-90 DJ" has anyone ran across this or can decode it. I'm not dumb its the date initials and serial number of sorts. I was told by a Chevy tech that only something like 256 vettes were painted competition yellow in 1990, 12 were the ZR1, and almost 100 were convertibles and only 42 were sold with the matching hardtops? I am interested in decoding the 42666 serial number and really finding out if there were only 42 yellow competition hardtops sold? (Yes I have one on the factory stand still)

You can slightly see the crack and where the lower wiper hit the glass

you can see the crack on my dirty window.

Date, initials & the unknown number 42666 on the rear deck under the deck cover. (again dirty Vette)
