Has anyone used one of these for lifting their C4? I'm looking into buying a portable lift and the price is great. Any feed back will be greatly appreciated.
I'll look at the two post, I'm dealing with an 8' ceiling and the price of the quick jack is under $900. Retirement is great but fixed income is a bummer.

there was one in here that would fit that folks liked about twice the price. I have seen some cheaper. but looking at this I would not feel safe under it.
Its cool and all and right cheap from checking the price but I have to agree with what others said. Theres no way in heck Id get under a car with that thin thing holding it up.
I friend of might spent 15 years in a wheel chair and then a walker for a few years after that before being able to walk again from a car falling on him. Makes me paranoid as all get out and that is just not enough metal to make me feel safe.
I would not get under it either and especially not working on it where I need to use some force to break a bolt loose, or pull on it to remove something. Working under it is the reason why I would want one. It looked like it could be nice for drivetrain work on a C5+, but not that flimsy.
It is only rated at 3500 lbs. The curb weight on C4's are about 3300 lbs. Now add a full tank of gas, maybe something in the hatch, or a person in the driver's seat (like for pumping brakes or clutch during bleeding, etc.) and the lift is overloaded.
C3's curb weight is over 3500 lbs and they are still small cars.
It would not work for my other cars at all. Caprice, Charger, pickup, etc.
A good floor jack that will lift to 24" + 4 truck jack stands. This set up will take a few more minutes to raise the vehicle but it will much safer than any flimsy products designed for the "HOME" work shop. About 400 bux for all of it @ HF.
Similar to CROWZ experience a friend had a vehicle fall on him. He lived but his brain was oxygen starved for awhile. He barely knew his name after that episode.
Another fellow who had built a beautiful Cobra replica had it fall on him when changing oil. He did not survive.
Well I just got the BL-5000XL, 5000 pound rating. It certainly is not flimsy it weighs quite a bit and it does have a bar on each side to lock it into place. I can't get a 2 post floor lift in my small garage and jacking up my Vette with 2 hydraulic Jacks just to get jack stands under it is a real hassle and dangerous. The EZ lift requires at least 4 inches or 4.5 inches of concrete to anchor to and I have about 2.5 inches on my floor so that wouldn't work . So this was my personal choice. I will be glad to let you know how I like it once I start using it a bit.
Hope it works great for you. I just wouldn't feel safe under one but I'm a chicken when it comes to crawling under a car without something I feel solid with. Again I hope it works really well. I think if I had to use one Id at least put some jack stands under there after lifting before getting under the car.

you can put steel plate down for thin cement I would do that anyways.
14 gauge steel same as my mail box I would sure find a way to block it

Crowz,
don't take this the wrong way but I can't see how jack stands could be safer than the Quick Jack Many years ago 1985 to be exact I had an old pair of 3 ton parts store jack stands fail. I was not under the car thank God but I was behind it when the jack stand gave out (one had bent). The BL-5000XL seems very heavy duty. I have no affiliation with the company but they are made by Ranger and Bendpak sells them so I don't think they are a poorly designed product.

I'm not knocking them directly but that design doesn't seem like enough metal holding it up for my comfort. The stands I use are rated at 6 tons and even then I leave the jack under there somewhere and trust me one of the wheels is usually under there somewhere too
I will fully admit to being paranoid about being under the car without a good bit of anti-flattening protection !
