Compressor replacement, wiring question...
The new one has the same, two wires to be connected. But one of the two wires; is grounded to the compressor.
My question is, does it matter which wire is connected to which wire.???
Have the service manual but not the electrical manual.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Kc

Am going to try and make sure I do this right.
When you say turn everything on, I assume start the car.
Then check with a volt meter I guess.?
Check the wiring on the car side of the wiring for voltage.?
Don't know if I need to check on the compressor side ?
Thank you again so very much... Kc

Then test both wires on the vehicle side of the wiring harness.
One of the two will have battery voltage (approx. 14 volts w/engine running). You can use a voltmeter or a test light, whichever your comfortable with or whatever is readily available.
Once you identify which wire has voltage available, then connect that circuit to the compressor pigtail wire that is NOT directly grounded.
Testing on the compressor side is not necessary, provided you can see which wire is directly grounded.
Don't worry or stress about making this repair. Even if you get it wrong the worst that will happen is it will blow the ac fuse, and you will have to reverse the wiring.
Lastly, its kind of a shame to have to cut and hack wiring together but sometimes that's what happens when you use aftermarket parts or used parts. In the event you cant actually disassemble the connector body itself and you have to cut it off, at least save it. You may end up needing it someday.
