so I bought a 1990 c4 last week.its gonna need some work but I knew that when I bought it.what I didn't know is that when you start it up cold it makes a lot of noise that concerns me.after it gets up to operating temp its almost gone completely so I did some research on here and came up with iston slap.it just seems like its way too loud to just be something that's not a concern so I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of just how loud piston slap can be.this is not a subtle sound at low volume it seems pretty loud to me but this is my first vette so?like I said after a while it does almost go away.deinately nothing like when you start it cold.thanks.

Welcome.. If its piston slap it should go away after warm up. How many miles? Probably time to check out everything. Plugs, wires,cap do a compression check.
