The older gear heads in here will know the name. He was one of the great custom car builders from my youth. He passed today. RIP and thanks for making dreams for a young kid.

Heard the news on the way home. What a life he was able to make for himself.
this is the first I heard of it.....just logged in tonight....wow.
My first time back at Mid America in September since 2007, just a couple of months ago....I must have gone for more than one reason, destiny.....I took this pic while I was there.......one of the few I took......George is here in the yellow jacket at Mid America Funfest in the yellow jacket near Mike, the owner. Jesus this was just two months ago.......
if Mike hasn't seen this photo, he will love it. He keeps asking me when I am coming over to see the 54. Need to go. Thanks for posting the pic, its a great one.

I knew he was scheduled to be at the MA Funfest this year and wondered if he made it-your pic confirms he did. I followed him since I was 9 or so and built many of his model cars. Had the chance to meet him at a show a few years ago and have an autographed pic. I liked his early customs, but not a big fan of the later creations. Definitely a legend!
Yes George was next to me at Mid America Funfest when he picked my 1954 Corvair Motorama Car that Brett and I built. Mid America sent me that pic and I am going to have it frames along with a couple other things that George gave me while we talked. It was a great feeling to know that the King of Kustomes picked my car that Brett and I built and to have Linda Vaughn there also and she was also helping George get a round, what a day that was. One that I am not soon to forget. May George Rest in Piece because there will be no other like him.
