Good morning, I recently purchased an L98 engine, after reading the specs I determined that I wanted more HP but maintain that crazy torque she provides. My question is what Cam set-up works for my application and are long-tube headers the best route to take. My intent is to gain 60 to 70 HP to the rear tires.
Posted in the wrong section of the site.. post in the C4 section.. 50-60 rwhp out of an L98 you'll need need.. a better flowing intake (Holley Stealth Ram, Access SuperRam) heads 200cc(AFR, BRODIX,TRICK FLOW) and I'd go with the Comp 280 xfi roller cam.. headers and 3000 stall converter, you'll also need to find some to do a custom tune, (tuner pro rt, with moates.net hardware) good luck!
I had an 11 second 467hp,517tq Tpi Trans Am and to be honest it would be a lot cheaper and easier to make power if you pull the L98 and go with an LS engine.

I agree that it might make sense to consider an LS conversion these days.
That being said, he's talking about 50-60 RWHP............not the 250+ RWHP your T.A. gained to go 11s
He's asking about going from 210 RWHP (or so) to 260 (or so). That won't necessarily require heads, cam and intake as you suggested. I got my L98 to 270HP/372TQ (at the wheels) without changing the heads or the cam. My original combo was made through trial and error (and tons of track time). I'm certainly not saying it was the easiest (or cheapest) way to get it done, but I did get my car from 14.00 at 100 (stock) to 12.50 at 108 without changing the heads or the cam.
