OK, I will show my ignorance. What is the LTCC conversion and what are its benefits and cost?
Its just basically turning the optispark into just a optical sensor for timing and removing the high voltage from it, the firing will be taking care of by 8 separate ignition coils like the LS Engines. Benefits are longer opti life, most people never have a problem ever again from what I've pretty much heard. I would also say more stable spark as well. Cost is 400 for the LTCC
Coil per Cylinder Module. Only other parts needed are 8 LS1/LS6 Coils, Cut to length Plug wires, and a coil harness from GM and some fab skills.
I'd say anywhere from 600-750 on average to do so. IMO I think its worth it for me.
what do you guys think so far? Tried to make it look as close as to stock.
If it were ME, and I were going for a stock look (which I would), I'd try to mount the coils down on the frame rail. To me, that would looks stock, as in a '90's LT1 stock look (no coils on the valve covers) and I don't like the look of coils on valve covers LT1 or otherwise. The coils would still be about as close to the plug as the VC location...just out of sight.
You need the Delteq module to run the Northstar system. I do not believe they are in business anymore.
Ah yes that's right! I got LTCC and Delteq confused. I've got a set of the coils but never did the install. Guess I can pitch those Northstar coils now LOL!
