I got a 200mm rectangular hella h4 kit but no adaptor harnesses. Do I need one or can they be hardwired up with any basic h4 harness? Basically cut the old pig tail off and find what goes where and solder on a h4 harness?
What are you guys doing for this mod. I doubt it's something I'd reverse or take off if selling
The stock harness is an H4 harness, you are good to go. Just pick a quality H4 bulb like Philips Xtreme Power.
Oh wow! Wasn't expecting that at all. When I did my dodge stealth twin turbo it needed an adaptor harness. I didn't feel like tearing into the vette without the right parts. Thanks for the quick answer!
I'll be running the hella 60/55 that came with the kit until they blow, still a great difference in light output vs sealed beam

Some years ago when I had a '92 'vert, I bought the Hella H4 conversion kit. I can't remember for sure if the kit included a harness but all I had to do was to install H4 bulbs in the housings and plug the factory connector into the bulb.
IIRC, the purpose of the conversion harness had something to do with how the two power and ground tabs were positioned on the bulb. Some aftermarket bulbs (especially the Xenon style aftermarket bulbs) had the tabs in different positions compared to a stock lamp. So the harness simply connected the bulb tabs to the correct position for the factory harness.
The bulbs I used were a Xenon style and were something like 90W for both high and low beams. Never had a problem with the stock wiring, never blew a fuse. But I don't think it would be a good idea to go with a much higher wattage than that.

That wattage is fine on the stock harness. However, if you want to send more juice to the bulbs to make them even brighter a relay harness pulling power straight from the batt is a great idea and extends the life of the headlight switch in the cabin.
