Default Window motor gear sheared

Hey guys so ive been having an issue with the drivers side window ever since i purchased the car. The window would move in 3-4 inch intervals. So the window would go down 4 inches pause, go down another 4 inches pause, etc. It appeared to me that the window was not aligned properly and that was causing the issue and occasionally i would have to adjust the window with my hand to make it go up all the way. Eventually there was a loud snap noise when putting the window up and i figured a linkage somewhere had broken. I decided today while waiting for guests to arrive on Christmas when it was 70* out to take a look at the window. I pulled the old window motor and as soon as i took it off all the sheared teeth from the gear just fell out. I replaced the motor with a new one and the window works like new. My main concern it what would cause this to begin with, im worried that this will just happen again over time with the new motor. Right now there doesnt seem to be any issues that i can see that would lead to this happening again but this is apparently the 3rd window motor. Is this a common issue? Thanks!

You have to grease the tracks once in a while if the y are dry it is much harder for the motor, I always take off the panel and grease the tracks on all my used vehicles. I recommend sylglyde from napa because it dosnt smell but I have used caliper grease before.
GREASE EM UP!
