If you remember my earlier post about my 94 and chugging and lack of power...So I guess that's the deal. I will have them do the water pump-plugs and wires while at it. Very disappointing-27500 miles and it seemed to just come right out of the blue. Yes, it's a 22 year old car-I know. Probably should do the intake gaskets too. Well-Happy New year to all of you and thank you for all the good information you gave me.

Sorry to here that. I picked up a 1994 back in August with 102K on it and as far as I know the opti is factory.

Imo, I think letting cars sit does more damage than good. The cars out there that are 25 years old with a grand a year on the ticker, might be worth more, but only if you plan to let it sit. those who buy them to drive then will see that the age of the parts sitting is just as bad if not worse than the parts on them worn out from driving.

my optispark was dead at 26k.

seals were all cracked allowing water to get in - probably from engine washing.

my recommendation is look high and low for an oem ac delco optispark and vent it.

the oem ones can still be found on ebay. look for original boxes, ask the seller the right questions. they usually sell for top dollar too but it beats being stranded on the road due from a cheap chinese replacement.

i laugh at the guy here who told me his msd optispark was an 'upgrade part' and better than the oem....

When I bought my 94 it did the same thing with no codes. Before I yanked the opti I swapped out the O2 sensors, problem went away. Just a thought.

So do you want to know how to diagnose an opti? The two times I had opti failures, my C4's would turn off when hot. Injectors were not being pulsed.

Yes-that is interesting. Tomorrow I am going in to talk to the mechanic before I give them the green light. That is not what is happening to me but it is winter and not sure how hot I could possibly get it. You have me thinking, it does start to run WORSE when it gets warmer but never had it shut off! Thanks

Do a search on how to scan codes for 1994 Corvette. I believe codes 16 and 36 are opti.
